Kahoot’s catchphrase is “Social, Play, Learning.” Which is intended for the users and creators so they can socialize, play and learn at the same time. Kahoot is an online based game where anyone can play anywhere with the game of their choice

With this online game platform, we can both create the game at (kahoot.com) and also be a player at (kahoot.it) especially with accessible and free access, as educators we can look for the most suitable game for our students or create our own one based on the needs of our students.

We would like to focus the use of Kahoot! To a more specific use which is assesment. And from there we would like to take it to the next level which is learning motivation. According to Pedagogical University of Cracow, Poland. There are 6 Gamification elements that relate to Motivational components. They are (1) a win (2) levelling up (3) points or rewards (4) game playing (5) team (6) the game itself

To play Kahoot, students will have to login with a game pin and a username. Once the game has started, the participant must answer correctly as fast as posibble in the given time. students answer the multiple choice questions through their pc or smartphones. While playing, they have to constantly look at the projector as well as their own device. Which create what Kahoot calls as a campfire moment. The answer and the score charts will be shown in the main screen (projector) immediately after the time is finished. And assesrs can also download the results of the players for further assesment.

                For children or teens, Learning has probably never been more boring. Not to mention the evaluation session. Yet technology has also never been better. So we would like to combine this two ideas together and create a fun learning. One of the reasons why we recommend this game is because we have also tried this game previously. And even though we are university students, we have to admit that this game is very addictive in a good way. What can be better than an addictive assesment which means students will want to be assesed over and over again which leads to more and more learning.

                The way we want to use Kahoot is we want to use it to enhance listening and reading skills. And also to learn more things such as idioms and grammar. to implement this in a classroom setting. We need a school with computer labs with wifi connection or students who each have smartphones and a class with screen projector. So we need a school with pretty much high technology.

1. listening class : for listening class, we can put a listening script from a story or lecture, and then give the questions through Kahoot.

2. Reading Class : students read a text before going through the game. And then the questions will be revealed with Kahoot.

3. Grammar quiz : the question can be in the form of theories or it can also be in the form of error analysis in a sentence and others

4. Idioms : the question is the idioms and the multiple choices are the literal meaning or it can be vice versa

5. Fun Quiz :  beside enhancing language, we can also use it to find out students knowledge about current issues happening at the moment, history or others.

As students of education department, we do understand the struggles of being a student, therefore we are very concerned about how to increase people’s motivation in studying especially for the millenial generation. Hopefully. By using Kahoot, we can offer solution to the learning process of Millenials. At the end of the day, we expect students to gain new insights, have fun in the middle , gain confidence, be more competitive and willing to learn more in order to be the best among their peers

Bannf Winter Wonderland - Journeys

BANNF WINTER WONDERLAND

Canada is the second largest land mass on earth and one of the many subtropical countries on earth with the best destinations to visit as a winter wonderland. Being very close to the North Pole, winter in Canada is frozen and as white as snow. The whole land is literally covered in snow during winter, and the beautiful and breathtaking scenes all around the winter season makes Canada a must see destination in winter especially at the Bannf National Park.

The Bannf National Park is Canada’s oldest national park and the world’s third, also listed as one of the UNESCO world heritage site. The word “BANNF” is pronounced / ᵇ ᵆ ᵐ ᶠ /. This national park has everything you want in a winter destination. It has got a castle, mountains, lakes, rivers and everything you need for a perfect holiday. In short, you will have an experience of a lifetime.

Wherever you go, especially when you plan for a long winter vacation, you will definitely need a place to stay. And as I have mention before that when you go to Bannf National Park, you will get a chance to sleep in a castle. It is called the Fairmont Bannf Springs Hotel. The architecture of the building is very grand because it was created in Scotland Baronial style. The history of the castle-like hotel dates back to more than a hundred years ago. The historically unique hotel was what inspired others to build hotels around tourist areas. Just in case you are wondering about the details of the hotel’s history, you can find it at the hotel, along with a shop that provides souvenirs and other great stuffs.

While staying in a hotel might cost you a lot of money, there is actually another alternative which you can try like camping. Luckily Bannf National Park provides many camping ground. The Tunnel mountain villages are some of them. You can either camp with tents or caravans. The area provides showers, kitchens and electricity. To camp in Bannf does require some cash, but it’s more affordable. This way you can feel the adventure and bound in to the nature around you. Just remember that winter is freezing so you should really prepare yourselves by following the rules of the campsites and bring must bring items.

Bannf is famous not only for how great their adventure is but also how sattisfying their scenes are. Of course every sight in Bannf gives you an extraordinary view to remember. But some places in Bannf will give you memories of a lifetime. If you get to visit Bannf before January you can ride the Bannf Gondola that run across the Canadian Rockies to the Sulphur Mountain, it gives you the ability to enjoy the panoramic views of Bannf by seeing 360 degrees around you from the heights. That is the simplest thing you can do if you just want to be able to see Bannf from above while sitting in your gondola. Another one which offers you lifelong experience is the lake louise, the lake does become frozen but the sight it offers is just as good s it can be. The good side is you can skii above it, make snow angels  nearby, or even ride a sledge across it. located not far from the lake Louise is the Moraine lake which is just as good as lake louise but I will say that it provides you extra scenery because when you come to Moraine lake, you will see 10 mountain peaks that surround the Moraine lake, this is why the spot is also called the valley of the ten peaks. The scenery is not just breathtaking but it will give you a sattiesfied feeling especially if you are looking for inspirations, this is the right spot.

Okay so far when reading this article all you imagine about Bannf is that they only have mountains, frozen lakes and snow. But wait, there are actually two museums located in Bannf, of course they are located at different places. They both share similarities by the information they contain which is about science and about the national itself. The first is called the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies, and the other is called the Bannf Park Museum which is also a National Historic Site. The two museums are not far away from each other, indeed they are only 2 minutes walk from each other. Close to these Museums is the Bannf Avenue. This part of Bannf looks rather different than what you have been reading in the previous paragraphs. In this part of Bannf you can find great shops, restaurants, Hotels and much more. Probably this should be the last place to visit when you are in Bannf.

Winter is one of the best time of the year, what’s special about winter is the snow that you only get once a year and not everyone knows how it feels to be in a pile of snow because snow don’t fall everywhere on earth. Once a while in your life you should spend some winter days or weeks in the best place that snows. Bannf National park is a perfect place where snow falls, where you get to let yourself follow your heart to a journey in nature and open your eyes to unlimited sceneries you don’t get to enjoy everyday. What else will you ask for in a Winter vacation where you get priceless experience that will be lifelong remembered  I would say that Bannf is the best place to visit in winter.

Mesmerizing Summer in Fremantle

           

Australia is one of the seven continents in the world, yet it is the only continent to host only country on it. Despite the massive size of land, it is only populated by around twenty four million Australians. What you need to know about Australia is their unique season which happens to be the other way around other subtropical countries close to the North Pole. For instance when it is summer in France, it would be winter in Australia. This is because Australia is located close to the South Pole. You can find everything in this country, from the famous iconic Sydney Opera House, the Ayers rock to the amazing great barrier reef.  Not only are their land and natural sites gorgeous, but they have the best places to visit from season to season. In summer, one of the best places to visit in Australia is Fremantle

            Australia is a unique subtropical country. What makes Australia unique is that they have different weather condition throughout the country even in the same season. In winter for instance, Tasmania gets really cold winter with the snows lasting two months longer in mountainous areas. Even so, parts of Australia like Darwin and Perth don’t get snow at all. This also happens in summer when the temperature varies in different places. However, Fremantle is a place of its own unique weather atmosphere throughout the year. The winter is cool with refreshing breeze. The summer is hot, dry and filled with thye typical summer air. Nonetheless I can guarantee you that your visit to fremantle will be one of the best time in your life.

            There are many ways to get to Fremantle. The most affordable is by the public bus and train service. Other than work hours it is usually not crowded so you will be able to enjoy your trip completely. Once you arrive at Fremantle you will find out that Fremantle is a great place to explore, and you definitely can’t walk all the way because Fremantle is pretty huge. So you’ll also need transportation to get around the city. Luckily, a free bus service runs a few routesin Fremantle. It is called the Fremantle CAT. The driver is very nice and you can also ask him questions about places to visit there. But because this bus does not accommodate all routes you can still walk along some roads. Since Fremantle is a beach city it would not be complete without riding the ferry. So if you ever get a chance to go there you should go on a twenty five minute ferry ride to Rottnest Island where you can ride bycicle, snorkle or dive, camp, and see the island’s typical marsupial called quokka. The scenery from the island is as good as you can imagine especially at sunset.

            As I said before that walking in Fremantle is great, it brings out the feeling of Happiness and Freedom, all around Fremantle, there are always nice places to see. If adventure sounds appealing to you, here are three places you must visit: first is the Western Australian Maritime Museum that can offer you knowledge about Australia’s relationship to its diverse Maritime history and Collection, also the history of Fremantle itself. Next up is the Fremantle Prison that will pump your adrenaline. It literally was a prison and it is one of creepiest place in Western Australia. It used to be home for high level criminals but was eventually closed due to its security standars. From the outside it looks like well-taken care building, but once you have stepped inside, you will get a picture how it used to be back then. And after a long journey you can visit the Fremantle Market to relieve your thirst and hunger. Opened since 1897. The place is very authentic and will provide you a one stop shopping place to buy everything from groceries to souvenirs. The place makes you feel like you are lost in the 19s. These are just some of the best places, but there are still tons of place you can visit as aditionals.

Summer is never a summer without the beach, right? Well Fremantle has got everything for a perfect summer getaway. Because they have heaps of beaches, I recommend you the South Fremantle beach. If you are not in for the swimming, at least you can walk around by the sea shore, build some sand-castles and simply enjoy the sunset. Want to make your beach trip even better? One of the things that you cannot miss when you are in the beach at Fremantle is the food. There are many shops that sells Fish and Chips. It is affordable and enjoyable for everyone. Another interesting thing that you can find at the beach is the Fremantle Doctor and no it is not a human. It is the scent of the sea that gets carried away to the surroundings by the summer air. Encircling the place with warmth and soothing air. The people call it the Fremantle Doctor because it gives relaxing and calming feeling to whoever gets the chance to breathe them. So I guess the Beach trip at Fremantle should be enough to make you remember it for the rest of your life.

There are millions of city in the world with wonderful beaches and great places to see in summer. Fremantle is one of them, but compared to others it is very different in its own way because of the feeling it leaves you with, the feeling of love will always make you want to comeback and move around the place. I used to pass Fremantle everyday for months, but still I never want to miss a view everytime I get the chance to see it. Also the people in Fremantle is very nice especially when you are able to meet a compatriot it would feel like finding a trreasure in a far distant place. I’m sure this article will give you enough guide when you visit Fremantle. Of course there are still more awesome places you can visit, but if I write them all, it would take a book to write it in. You won’t regret coming to this city because the places, atmospheres, people and just about everything will give you the memory worth lifelong remembered.
